Even the dresses your bridesmaids are wearing reflect your own personal style, as you’ve probably made the majority of the decisions on the color, length, silhouette, and accessories. Here are five of my favorite bridesmaid dress trends that have graced the runways this year and are looking even hotter for 2012!
1. Black, black, black! Especially for 2012′s upcoming fall and winter weddings. Besides, your bridesmaids will thank you. What woman doesn’t look her best in black? An all black dress with a small splash of color looks especially remarkable; maybe with a white sash, purple shaw, or red shoes. Pick your accent color to match the rest of your wedding theme and you can’t go wrong!

2. Chances are, your bridesmaids are putting down a good chunk of their own money to purchase the bridesmaids dress, so why not make it more wearable for other occasions? Choose a style that can also be worn out to a nice dinner or evening out. Keep it simple and sexy. A shorter, cocktail style dress will definitely make it easier to get more reuse opportunities. Otherwise, it will collect dust in the back of the closet for years to come.
3. Choose the color palette for your best girls, and then let them choose the style and silhouette! Every figure is different and what looks great on you, may not look so hot on your friend’s unique frame. You can choose mismatched bridesmaid dresses with many varied features, for instance; different lengths, varied necklines, strapless vs. spaghetti strap, A-line vs. sheath, figure hugging vs. roomy with lots of ruffles, etc. A twist wrap dress is the most versatile and fun, with hundreds of different ways to style it and 20 colors to choose from. This will have them feeling their best while still having a semi-uniform look.
4. Consider having each one of your bridesmaids carry a different flower in their bouquet, all within the colors of
your wedding. So, for instance, if your colors are purple and orange, one girl could carry a bouquet with orange snapdragons, another with purple delphinium, and so on. Your bouquet could then carry all of those flowers together, bringing the look together. 5. Vintage bridesmaid dresses and/or accessories are all the new rage! The flapper dress and drop waist dress are 1920′s inspired. The mermaid style dress, Grecian dress, and Jitterbug dress all inspired from the 1930′s and 40′s. If you’re thinking more of the Elvis days, you can choose swing or pencil skirts for that 1950′s vibe; or how about Marilyn Monroe inspired bridesmaid dresses for a sexy pin up style?
Pair them up with vintage wedding hats, shoes, belts, hair pieces, you name it! To finish the look you can also tie your bridesmaid dresses in with a vintage inspired wedding cake, flower arrangements and your own vintage inspired bridal gown and accessories. I personally love the victorian style accessories inspired from the late 1800′s, adding romance and history to any wedding.
