Limousines are the most common form of wedding transportation, as it has it’s real perks. You can seat anywhere from seven to twenty people in a limo depending on the type you need and reserve. Not only can you use it for transportation, but you can watch television, relax, take turns pouring champagne, and have a chauffeur to open and close doors and help stow away and transport your belongings.
You should not wait until the last minute to reserve your limousine, unless you don’t mind settling for what’s left or having very limited options, especially if you’re getting married during prom season.
Finding a reputable limousine company can be tricky sometimes. If your family or friends don’t have recommendations, try looking online at review sites, or check wedding blogs in your area for honest opinions.
Most limousine companies charge by the transfer, hour, or three-to-four hour timeframes. The clock will start ticking the minute he or she pulls up to the pickup location, so give yourself and your bridesmaids plenty of time to get ready to ensure you’re not paying for a limo while you’re getting ready.
Typically, most transportation companies automatically include gratuity in their contracts. However, if you see that the gratuity has not been included, leave a twenty percent tip for a job well done.
Carefully look over your contract to find out what they will and won’t be providing. You might be disappointed to find out that their bar selection is very limited. And more importantly, always ask about their contingency plan. If something were to happen to your specific limo, what happens then? Do they have back up vehicles? Will you get a discount or refund? Make sure it is written in your contract.
If limousines are not your thing or you just want something different, there are a whole host of other types of vehicles that can be used as your getaway car. A classic Bentley or Rolls Royce tends to fit the bill for traditional luxury. Some like it sporty with a fun convertible or a hummer for something more adventurous. Whatever you choose, almost any car can be rented for a day.
If your destination isn’t far, you can also consider a pedicab, horse and carriage or even a boat! The important thing to remember is that you want to enjoy every moment of your special day, including the ride to and from your ceremony.
