Weddings have changed significantly over the last decade, from stuffy and traditional to exploding with personality. Couples have become a little more laid back, incorporating some fun and fresh new ideas into their big day. Here are 10 of the most creative (and sometimes wacky) wedding trends for 2012.

 

1. Photo Booths
Photo booths have taken over the wedding reception with fun props, such as mustaches, boas, glasses, hats, and frames. Because of it’s growing popularity, there are even portable photo booth services that allow your guests to take photos and even record a short video message. I think this is a great way to keep your friends and family entertained while getting some pretty awesome pictures for your scrapbook.

Streamers have always been popular for parties, but now you’ll find them dressing up many wedding ceremonies and receptions. Talk about an affordable decoration that adds a lot of punch.

 

4. Donuts

6. Signs
Creative signs have become huge at weddings. Chalkboards are perfect for displaying the menu or writing a special message. Rustic wooden signs are popular as directional signs. And, don’t forget about the ring bearer and flower girls! They just love to have their own sign to carry up the aisle.

 

7. Over The Rainbow
A rainbow inspired wedding is a far cry from a traditional color combo, but when done right, the striking array of colors are very pleasing. You can incorporate the colors of the rainbow into everything from the bridesmaid dresses to the dessert buffet. This is definitely an easy way to add a playful touch to your special day. 8. Seating In The Round
Looking for a not so square idea for your wedding ceremony? Consider having your guests surround you with a circular or spiral seating configuration. Instead of your backs being turned to them, this will give them all a unique view of the nuptials. It obviously wouldn’t work in a church or most indoor venues, but your options are wide open with an outdoor wedding.

 

9. Veggies

10. Choosing A Theme
A themed wedding puts a new spin on tradition, and it’s a lot of fun to plan, too! I’ve seen a lot of circus themes, inspired by the movie Water For Elephants.
